Marie DelGallo Laven, 81, of Schenectady, passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Born and raised in Schenectady, Marie was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. She also attended Union College. She worked for General Electric in Schenectady and later as a Senior Designer at the Knolls Atomic Power Lab in Niskayuna. She retired after 38 yrs of service. Marie was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and most recently attended St. Gabriel’s Church, where she was also a member of the St. Gabriel’s Women’s Club. Marie loved to travel and saw a lot of the world. She also was a volunteer at Sunnyview Hospital for many years. Marie was predeceased by the love of her life, her beloved husband Edmund Laven, who died in 1997, her parents; Ettore and Concetta Sacrini DelGallo and her sister Carmella Giannetti. She is survived by her children; John (Mary Jane) Laven of Schenectady, Edmund Laven Jr. of Scotia, Anne (John) Fatato of Schenectady and William (Karen) Laven of Schenectady, three brothers; Anthony (Vicky) DelGallo of Schenectady, Francis (Roxanne) DelGallo of Mariaville, Robert DelGallo of Schenectady, her sister; Elisa (Robert) Bursor of Schenectady, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, 10 am at St. Gabriel’s Church, 3040 Hamburg St. Burial will be private. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the City Mission of Schenectady, 425 Hamilton St. Schenectady, NY, 12305.
