Marie (Sciachitano) Fagg

Rotterdam - Marie Sciachitano-Fagg, 85, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2014 peacefully at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living facility in Clemmons, NC. She was born in Messina, Italy on May 15, 1928 the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Anna DiStefano-Sciachitano, Marie moved to Amsterdam, NY from Italy with her parents and late sisters Anna Glasser, Teresa Jackson,and brother Giuseppe Sciachitano. She originally resided in Amsterdam NY where she met her future husband William H. Fagg Sr. They were married in Indianapolis Indiana on August 23, 1952 and resided in Indianapolis, IA, Owensboro, KY and Burnt Hills NY before taking permanent residence in Rotterdam,NY, where she and her spouse William Fagg Sr. raised three boys, William Jr., Scott, and Michael Fagg. Mrs. Fagg was a homemaker and always had a special love for her puppies. She was preceded in death by her spouse William H. Fagg, Sr.; and two other sons William H. Fagg, Jr., and Scott A. Fagg. Surviving are her son Michael Fagg and his wife Cheryl of Winston-Salem, NC; six grandchildren Joe, Patricia, Angela, Kara, Steve, and Anthony; daughter in law Carrie; two step-grandchildren and their families; and a great grandchild Chazlyn. Also surviving are Mrs. Fagg's nephews and nieces; Wayne, Larry, Robert, and Anthony (Billy) Glasser of Rotterdam N.Y. and Judy Kunkel, William Jackson, and Diana Frakes of Owensboro KY and their families. The family would like to send a special thanks to all of Mrs. Fagg's caregivers, friends, and family for supporting and caring for her over the preceding years. Also, we will be receiving friends and family Thursday, January 9, 2014 at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam from 6-8 PM. A graveside service will be held 10 AM Friday, January 10, 2014 at Schenectady Memorial Park, Giffords Church Road, Rotterdam. In lieu of Flowers a contribution may be made in her memory to the Schenectady Animal Protective Foundation 53 Maple Ave., Scotia, NY 12302.
