Rotterdam - Marie Gay Avery of Rotterdam, NY, born August 22, 1923 in Walarth, NY, to Mildred Raynor Gay and Charles D. Gay, died September 14, 2014 at home. Marie graduated from Nott Terrace High School, class of 1941, and worked at GEIGE and the Navy building. She met her husband to be, Harold G. Avery, while attending choir and a youth group at Westminster Presbyterian Church. They were married January 3, 1943 and were together for 47 years. Harold enlisted in USAF in 1942 and Marie joined him at Turner Air Force Base in Albany, GA, where their daughter was born and lived until the end of World War II in November 1945, when they returned to Schenectady, NY. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harold G. Avery, her daughter, Patricia Avery Suitto and her sister, Carol Gay Wells. Marie is survived by her two grandsons; Robert J. Suitto (Tammy Almy) and Michael A. Suitto. Five great grandchildren; Courtney Suitto, Jessica E. Suitto, Joseph R. Suitto, Anthony R. Suitto and Meghan Logue. Her brother; Charles B. Gay and his wife Carolyn of Mohawk, NY. Her brother-in-law; Keith A. Wells and his wife Pricilla of Windsor, CT. Her former son-in-law; John D. Suitto and his wife Cathy. Marie is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial will be private.
