Marguerite Doulides

Marguerite “Marte” Doulides, 100, passed away peacefully on Monday February 23, 2026 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. She was a devoted communicant of St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church and a proud member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society.

Marte was born in Schenectady on November 12, 1925 to the late Lena and Edward Renzi. She was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. Marte was married to her beloved husband, the late James Doulides, for 48 years before his passing in 1994. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and hard work. She worked alongside her husband for many years as caterers for the Hellenic Center and as proprietors of Christy’s Foods, where their dedication and warmth touched countless lives.

An amazing cook, Marte lovingly passed down her delicious recipes and culinary talents to her family. She was a gifted dancer, loved to rollerskate, and took tremendous pride in her home - there wasn’t anything she couldn’t clean or make shine. Her strength, energy, and attention to detail were unmatched.

She is survived by her daughter Dayna (Peter) Kalil and son Chris (Linda) Doulides; her sister Sharyn Sabatini (Fred Waller); her cherished grandchildren Mark Kalil, Jamie (William) McDonald, Nikki (Alex) Steele; and her treasured great-grandchildren Peter, Jake, Montana, Ryan, Liam, Brodie, Parker, and Breckyn; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings Edward (Nancy) Renzi and Patricia (Joseph) Cordi; and her grandson, Steven Doulides.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday March 2nd from 9am to 11am at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, followed by a funeral service at 11:30am at the St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, 107 Clinton Street, Schenectady, NY 12305.
