Margaret "Peg" A (Lithgow) Fiset

Albany- Margaret Ann (Lithgow) Fiset, better known as “Peg”, “Nanny” or “Gramma- passed away on September 4th, 2022 at 87 years old. Born November 6th, 1934 Margaret was the daughter of Thomas Lithgow and Julia Farrell Lithgow. She leaves behind her daughter Colleen Jensen (Lanny) of Rotterdam and son Brian J. Fiset of Albany. Her granddaughter Courtney Jensen-Krzykowski (Matthew) of Rotterdam. Grandsons Brian J. Fiset Jr. and Johnanthony Fiset of Albany. Great-granddaughters Couraira and Cerafina Jensen-Krzykowski. Her sister Joan Miller of Slingerlands along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is predeceased by her sister Julia “Sheila” Keefe. A nurse-turned nursing instructor, Margaret spent decades caring for many a patient at both St. Clare’s Hospital and St. Peter’s Hospital. She educated thousands in her profession at Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and later at Hudson Valley Community College, where she retired from at 74 years of age. Traveling with her children was her greatest joy.She believed education was the most important, second only to family. She spent her summers off from teaching galivanting with her granddaughter. Then once her grandsons were born; she shared her love of sports, reading, and adventures with all three grandchildren. She was an avid golfer and tennis player. In retirement, she was a member of several golf leagues and spent most days playing a round of golf and getting breakfast at her favorite diner. Her presence and wisdom is going to be so greatly missed. Funeral services were held privately for the family. Margaret was interred at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Margaret’s name to St. Madeleine Sophie School or Church.
