Margaret Diamond

Schenectady-Margaret Diamond passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 13 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Saugerties NY, and grew up in Howe Cave NY. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Scott and Elizabeth (Simmons) Scott. After graduating from high school, Margaret took business classes and received a certificate in Data Processing. She worked, at Albany City Hall for five years, then went on to work for the Albany County Department of Health in the Vital Statistics Department for 32 years. During this time she started her family and raised eight children. Margaret loved life and lived it in her own crazy way. She loved her family, loved going to camp with her life long friend Walter Stepnowski and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She could often be found completing her crossword puzzles, or watching Jeopardy. Margaret is predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Elizabeth, and her siblings; James Scott, Betty Scott, Beatty Nirschel, and Florence Hotaling . She is also survived by siblings; Doris Diamond, Nancy Marlow, David Scott, and Arthur Scott. She is survived by her children; Nancy Diamond, Daniel (Kathleen) Diamond, Chuck (Karen) Diamond, Lester (Cyndi) Diamond, Faye Diamond, Wayne (Robin) Russell, Timothy (Christine) Scott, and Kimberly Diamond, her 35 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many other family and friends. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 6pm-8pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Schenectady, NY. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 10am at the funeral home. Margaret will be laid to rest at Bramanville Prospect Cemetery in Howe’s Cave, NY. Please note that masks will be required to enter the funeral home and that a limited number of people may be allowed inside at a time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Margaret’s name to New York Oncology Hematology for Breast Cancer Research, 400 Patroon Creek Blvd. Suite 1, Albany, NY 12206 or to Community Hospice, 310 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
