Margaret V (Madelone) Abbatiello

Rotterdam – Margaret V. Abbatiello, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 4, 2021. A lifelong area resident, Margaret was born in Schenectady to her parents, the late Cicero and Mary (Baczkowski) Madelone. She worked for a short time at Sealtest making ice cream molds and later as a homemaker, devoting her life to caring for her home and family. She was famous for her sloppy joes and mac salad that she served to every person who came to visit. A prayer warrior and woman of great faith, Margaret was an active member of Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God in Schenectady. In her younger years, she taught Sunday School, was involved in the puppet ministry and prayer chain, sang in the choir and hosted missionary guests in her home. Margaret had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Above all things, she loved God and her family. Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Rev. Daniel R. Abbatiello (Angela) and Karen B. Atkinson (Duane); her grandchildren, Vincent Abbatiello (Theresa), Danielle Cooper (Jason), Kourtney DiGesare (Michael) and Kristen Smith (Richard) as well as her great grandchildren, Anthony, Mark, Eliana, Isabella, Carolina, Mercede, Sophia, Elizabeth, Giavanna, Michael Lewis, Lina, Evelyn and R. Anthony. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in 1964 by her husband, Anthony Abbatiello, whom she married on September 1, 1951, and her siblings, Florence Donadio and Walter Madelone. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdam. A funeral service will begin on Friday at 10am at the funeral home and will be followed by interment at Memory Gardens, Colonie. Margaret’s family would like to thank Darcy Connor and the team at Landmark Health and her aide, Deena Clark for all their wonderful care and compassion over the past years.
