Lynda (Finch) Jacobson

Lynda Jacobson, 70, of Guilderland, passed peacefully at her home on Monday, December 11, 2017 surrounded with love from family and friends. Born in Catskill, NY, Lynda was the daughter of the late Herbert and Margaret (Morgan) Finch. In addition to her parents, Lynda was also predeceased by her beloved husband Howard F. Jacobson, who died in 2015. She grew up in Coxsackie, NY and graduated from Coxsackie High School in 1965. Lynda was employed as a Professional Secretary with New York State for over 40 years. She was a longtime member of the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church and served as past director of the food pantry at the church for nearly a decade. She also enjoyed photography, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children; Mark (Dawn) Jacobson of Altamont, Laura (Tom) Malvey of Virginia, her step children; Judith (Terry) Reed, Janice (Adam) Myers, Daniel Jacobson and Michael Jacobson, all of Altamont, her sister; Marilyn (Henry) Rausch of Coxsackie and brother; Dick (Sharon) Finch of California, 12 grandchildren; Caleb, Kailey, Keira, Jack, Quinn, Michael, Rebecca, Christine, Cameron, Kyle, Katherine and Connor, 6 great grandchildren, as well as her aunt, nieces and nephews, including Bob and Joe Jacobson and many cousins. The family would like to express their sincere thanks for all of the care Lynda received from Dr. Dudek and his staff at NYOH. A heartfelt thanks also goes out to all of Lynda’s close friends who spent countless hours and round the clock care for the past several months – they gave her companionship, assisted in keeping her comfortable and allowed her the dignity of staying at her home throughout the end of her battle. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 14th from 4 - 6:30 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Tpk. (Rt. 20) in Guilderland. Funeral services will begin on Friday, December 15th 10 am at Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church, 2291 Western Ave. in Guilderland. Followed by the burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Lynda’s memory to The Interfaith Food Pantry, 2291 Western Avenue, Guilderland, NY.
