Luigi Savona, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 15, 2025 surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, and family. He was born in Sora, Province of Frosinone, Italy on November 8, 1932 to Gerardo and Angela Savona. He is predeceased by his beloved brothers Natale, Antonio & Domenico.
Luigi worked as an equipment maintenance tech. for Pede Brothers Italian Specialty Foods for many years before retiring. Luigi’s family meant everything to him. His kindness and generosity knew no limits always willing to help the family. He could “fix” anything that needed repair. He was also an avid gardener and thoroughly enjoyed making homemade wine. His legacy included the values of hard work, taking pride in whatever you do, and always placing family first.
Luigi is survived by his loving wife of 62 Years Emilia, his children Frank (Sabina) Savona; Gino (Lisa) Savona; Remo Savona and grandchildren Emily, Josh, Victor and Gabriella. He was the brother of Maria Venditti (Benedetto-deceased), Rita Cianfarani (Armando-deceased), and Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady on Thursday, May 22nd from 5-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Luigi’s life will be held on Friday, May 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd., Rotterdam. He will be laid to rest at St. Cyril Cemetery family mausoleum at 611 Duanesburg Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Community Hospice, 310 South Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12201. The family would like to express their gratitude to Community Hospice for their exceptional care.
