Luella M Thompson

March 10, 1936 — November 6, 2022

Rotterdam – Luella M. Thompson, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 6th, 2022, after a brief illness. Born in Lake Placid, NY on March 10th, 1936, Luella was the daughter of the late Guy and Gladys (Peck) Johnson. Luella married Walter H. Thompson on August 12th, 1961. They eventually settled in Rotterdam and were married for 38 years until his passing in 1997. Luella was the 4th (and youngest girl) of 10 children. She left school at an early age to help raise her two youngest brothers. If you knew Luella, then you knew that family was the most important thing to her. Luella and Walter never had children of their own, but you would never know it! They would often take nieces and nephews camping and for sleepovers. Luella always had fun activities and adventures planned. After watching her many nieces and nephews graduate High School and College Luella decided to go back to school to obtain her GED. She was so proud of this accomplishment! Luella will be remembered not only for her lifetime love and devotion to taking care of her family, but also keeping family members updated on current events going on in everyone’s lives. Luella was not only the family historian but also loved to organize family reunions so she could be surrounded by everyone that mattered most to her! In addition to her love of family Luella enjoyed traveling and seeing the United States. She enjoyed trips not only by car but looked forward to the many trips she took through Wade Tours. In addition to her parents and husband, Luella was predeceased by her companion of 20 years, David L. Bourdeau in 2016. She was also predeceased by her brothers Russell, Carl, Fay, Fred, Tony and Tommy Johnson as well as sisters Phyllis Pasquarella and Lois Pallotolo. Luella is survived by her youngest brother Duane R. Johnson (Donna) of Blakeslee, PA as well as several cousins and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held on Tuesday, November 15th at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Visitation will be from 6-7pm followed by the memorial service at 7pm. Burial will be private.
