Lucy Reutter, 87, of Rotterdam, entered into Heaven on Monday, September 1, 2025, at home with her family by her side. Lucy was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1938, the daughter of the late Alesio and Angelina Capobianco. Lucy moved to Rotterdam as a young girl. She attended John Bixby School and while in Draper High School, she met the love of her life. They married in 1960, built a house, and made it a home. Lucy filled her home with love, happiness, and delicious home-cooked meals. Some of her favorite times were spent in her kitchen making Sunday sauce for her family while listening to Frank Sinatra. All her meals seemed to be done effortlessly, and she referred to her family dinners as "a labor of love". Besides cooking big feasts, she also made countless holiday cookie trays, hundreds of hand knitted Christmas stockings, and crocheted blankets gifted to family and friends. Lucy leaves behind a legacy of love, selfless generosity, faith in Jesus, and wonderful memories that her family and friends will cherish always.
Lucy is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Stephen, son Stephen Reutter, daughters Katherine (David) Rybij and Debbie Reutter; her sisters Theresa Pollacek, Gloria Denisoff, and Rose (Paul) Ostergren; grandchildren Jennifer (Sean), Kristen, Ashley, Rebecca, Joseph, Talia, CaraMia (Aaron), and Stephen; great-grandchildren Delaney, Renzo, Liliana, and Shepherd, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Starson, Anna Capobianco, Frances Capobianco, Columbia Tokos, Jeanette Sciocchetti, and brother Vincent Capobianco. A special thank you to the Community Hospice - Schenectady County for their compassion and care.
