Lucy A. Amorosi

January 30, 1923 — January 2, 2025

NISKAYUNA- Lucy A. Amorosi, 101, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 2, 2025 with family by her side. She was born on January 30th, 1923, to the late Dajad and Agnes Torosian. She was married to Joseph Amorosi with whom she celebrated 64 years of marriage before his death in 2021. In addition to her parents and husband she was also predeceased by her brother Aram Torosian.

Growing up in Colonie, Lucy’s family owned the Torosian Bakery and a working family farm. She started her career working for the Watervliet Arsenal and then working for General Electric. She eventually was employed as a secretary at Schalmont Central Schools until her retirement in 1985. After her retirement, Lucy spent 14 beautiful years with her husband, Joseph, in Florida where they made dear friends and enjoyed the next chapter of their lives, until they returned home to live out the remainder of their lives. Lucy took great pride in her family and embraced her Armenian heritage, not only as evidenced through the fascinating stories she shared, but also through her valued recipes. She cherished her recipes and shared them with as many people as she could, teaching some people the art of her craft. Noone will forget her delicious eggplant, her famous pilaf, her Easter choreg, home-made macaroni and sauce, baklava and her famous pizzelles. The list is endless and the time and love that was put into them was evident and immeasurable. Lucy was also an avid gardener who meticulously tended to her vegetables, sharing her produce and vast knowledge with everyone. She was a giver and always took care of those she loved. She spent years following her son and eventually grandsons during their years of sports. From soccer games to baseball tournaments around the state, she was always there cheering them on. As their families grew she was able to spend time with them all and see her great grandchildren grow. She adored the babies and they always enjoyed visiting Grandma Lucy and her friends at Brookdale.

Lucy is survived by her son Christopher (Jane ) Amorosi, her beloved grandsons Joseph ( Monica ) Amorosi, Christopher ( Claire ) Amorosi, her great grandchildren Charli, Maxwell and Luca, her brother Joseph Torosian, her sister-in-law Beverly Amorosi and several nieces and nephews.

A special thank you goes out to the community and staff at Brookdale Assisted Living where Lucy lived out her last several months. She was truly loved by both staff and residents and became part of their family, making dear friends in the short time that she lived there. Also a special thank you goes out to the Ellis Hospital staff on the C6 wing where they compassionately cared for Lucy until her last days.
