Schenectady - Lucille Fredrick Leffingwell, loving wife, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. She was born April 16, 1929 in Schenectady, New York to Catherine Connery Fredrick and Leo Fredrick. She attended St. Columbus and Sacred Heart Schools, graduating as high school Valedictorian. She then attended the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY studying business. She married Francis Leffingwell in 1951. They were married 70 years before his death in 2021. They enjoyed a 70th anniversary party with their favorite chocolate cake at Baptist Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Scotia, NY. Lucille was employed by General Electric Company for many years, and then R.G. Provost Co., Stamp Brokers and Wholesalers. She was a very active member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, serving in many ways. She sang in the church's choirfor 50 years. She enjoyed traveling in the United States, especially Texas, North Carolina, Florida and Virginia. Although she and Francis were not blessed with children of their own, Lucille tremendously enjoyed spending time with her many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and the children of her friends. She always remembered the birthday of each person in her large extended family! Lucille was a cheerleader for many. She always cheered for her New York Giants, she cheered on her church and community, and she especially cheered on her family and friends. She provided a fine example to her family on how to be a supportive and loving aunt. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister Janet St.Lawrence. She is survived by her sister Judith Royal, nieces Suzanne Haley, Jeanne Taglierri, Joanne Russo, Kimberly Tate, April Stracener, and Jessica Royal-Wolfe, nephews Damase St. Lawrence, Christopher Royal and Andrew Royal, 14 great nieces, 13 great nephews, 16 great great nieces and 10 great great nephews as well as friends Holly Pajak and Melissa Miller. A calling hour will take place on Wednesday from 9-10am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam with a service to follow at 10am. Lucille will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Schenectady.
