Lucille M. Casso

d. August 1, 2024

ROTTERDAM - In the comfort of her home after a long illness, Lucille M (Palma) Casso, 90, went with the angels peacefully into eternal life in the early morning of August 1, 2024. Born April 19, 1934 in Schenectady NY, Lucille was the daughter of the late Albert Palma and Frances (Cinquino) Palma. Lucille grew up in Schenectady and was a 1952 graduate of Draper High School. In 1953, Lucille married Gerald Casso and they had 3 children, Gerald (Jerry), David and Lisa. Lucille worked various clerical jobs but her most rewarding job was being a homemaker and caregiver to her husband and children. Although not a member, Lucille spent many weekends volunteering as a waitress at the Rotterdam Elks Lodge #2157 and assisting the Ladies Auxiliary (LORE) in their fundraising events. Lucille and her husband attended many Elk parties & celebrations and would enjoy dancing the night away. Lucille also spent many summers with her husband and children at Birchhaven Campground in Sacandaga Lake. Lucille was a long-time member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Rotterdam, where she regularly attended Mass up until the onset of her illness. Besides her parents, Lucille was also predeceased by her husband, Gerald Casso in 2016 and her brother, Albert Palma, Jr.

Lucille leaves behind her sons, Gerald (Linda) Casso and David Casso, both of Rotterdam, and her daughter Lisa Rabideau (Derek), of Delanson. Lucille is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their most heartfelt thanks to Lucille’s daytime home health aide, Crystal Ebert, her weekend aids, Kayla Randolph and Theresa Eriole, and to her devoted neighbors, Marliek & Kara Roscoe. To each of you, your patience, sympathetic understanding, and kindness will always be fondly cherished and remembered.

The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to The Eddy Senior Care in Rotterdam, Schenectady Hospice, and Dr. Robert Gerstenbluth.

At Lucille’s request, there will be no services. Arrangements by DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, Rotterdam. Condolences can be posted at www.demarcostonefuneralhome.com.
