Louise T. (Morrett) Phillips died peacefully on Sunday June 15, 2025 at Schuyler Ridge Residential Healthcare. Louise was born on November 15, 1931 to the late James and Rose (Marconi) Morrett. She attended Schenectady schools, graduating from Mont Pleasant High School in 1949. She married Edward E. Phillips on April 25, 1950. Louise enjoyed her time as a stay at home mother until her children left for college. She returned to the workforce at Independent Professional Insurance Association, Schenectady County Community College, and retired from the Schenectady County Public Library. Louise was an avid reader, created beautiful cross stitch, and was a wiz at trivia. She never missed watching her favorite show, Jeopardy. Louise “Lou” and Ed supported their children in all their endeavors. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she never missed a tennis match or lacrosse game cheering them on. Louise was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward “Eddy” in 1997; her brother, James (Dorothy) Morrett; sister, Margaret and her husband Richard Hermida; brother-in-law, Anthony Cintula; and her cherished son-in-law, John Rys.
She is survived by her son, James (Shelley) Phillips; daughter, Kathleen Phillips; her beloved granddaughters, Sarah (Dylan) Share and Alexandra (Maxxwell) Crowley. Sarah and Alex have lost their biggest fan, Nana Lou. Louise is also survived by her sister, Marian Cintula; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam on Thursday June 19th from 9am to 10am, with a funeral service beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Louise loved pets, especially her cats and grand-pups. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Louise Phillips to the Animal Protective Foundation - Angel Fund, 53 Maple Ave., Schenectady, NY 12302.
