Schenectady - Louise E. Cooke, 74, of Schenectady, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 surrounded by her family after a battle with kidney disease. Born in Long Beach, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma Merritt. She was a member of The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and The Order of Eastern Star. She lived most of her life in the Schenectady areawhere she was a homemaker and mother to her sixchildren. Louise had a unique sense of humor and many found her quite funny! She collected cookbooks and enjoyed cooking and baking, shealso enjoyed gardening and had a passion for collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia and porcelain bells.Most of all she loved her grandchildren and was a very proud Grandma! Louise wanted nothing more than to spend time with her children and grandchildren whom she adored. She loved to get together for Family Fun Nights with her children and grandchildren and play endless board games and spoons. Her family was her life. Louise was predeceased by her husband Shubel R. Cooke Sr. (2011) and her youngest daughter Mary E. (Cooke) Rzeszuto (2013). She is survived by her children Christina White (Bob) of Rotterdam,Shubel R. (Krissy) Cooke Jr. of Pennsylvania, Marilyn Cooke of NC, Tracie(Dave) Knutti of Princetown, and Sherry (Jerry) Brown of Scotia. Louise is also survived by her son-in-law Kevin Rzeszuto, her grandchildren Robert White, Jacob Cooke, Brady Cooke, Aidan Rzeszuto, Katlyn Brown and her brother Walter (Nancy) Merritt. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be heldSaturday,May 6thfrom12-2 p.m.at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A 2 pm funeral service will immediately follow. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Viewland Cemetery.
