Louise Bonafede

Schenectady - Louise (Cirillo) Bonafede passed away peacefully while in residence at the Fulton Center for Rehabilitation and Health in Gloversville, NY on Thursday April 4, 2024. Born May 13,1935, she was the youngest daughter born to the late Guiseppe and Consiglia Cirillo of Schenectady. She graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1953. Louise worked in hospitality at the former Van Curler Hotel in Schenectady and then in retail for the Carl Company for many years. She and her late husband later owned and managed the Eaker-Callery and Thom Mcan Shoe Stores in Johnstown, NY from 1972 to 1996. She will be remembered by family and friends for her generous and loving spirit, her playful sense of humor and her memorable and legendary holiday celebrations which featured the traditions and culinary delights of her Italian heritage.

She was married for 60 years to the late Salvatore Bonafede and was predeceased by her three sisters, Marie (Aniello) Tebbano and Celeste (Joseph) Coltre, both of Schenectady, and Rose (Joseph) Gote of Lancaster, PA. She is survived by thirteen nieces and nephews in Sicily, the Netherlands, and throughout the United States.

A calling hour will be held on Thursday April 11th from 10am to 11am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Princetown Rd, Rotterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. She will then be interred at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady. Arrangements by DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, Rotterdam.
