Rotterdam - Louis Nicolella, 78, passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on May 30, 2023.
Lou was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Eugene D. and Josephine (Santabarbara) Nicolella. After receiving his B.S. degree in Accounting. Lou was a self-employed tax preparer for over 45 years and was also employed as an Auditor for the NYS Department of Mental Health. Lou was an avid gardener, always complimented on his vegetables and gorgeous flowers.
Lou was the beloved husband of 17 years to Geraldine Nicolella; beloved brother of John (Patricia) Nicolella; beloved stepfather of TJ (Kim) Johnson and Kim (Michael) Southern; beloved Uncle of John M. (Christine), Scott (Cathy) and Tracey Nicolella. Lou is also survived by his brother-in-law Ray Favata, 4 step-grandchildren, 2 great nieces, 5 great nephews and numerous cousins. Lou was predeceased by his sister-in-law Pat Richute.
Calling hours will be held Monday, June 5 from 9:30am to 10:45am at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam, followed at 11:30 by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd. in Rotterdam. Burial will follow in St. Cyril Cemetery, Rotterdam.
