Rotterdam - Louis R. Comanzo passed away peacefully on June 2, 2018 at the age of 87. He enters eternal life to be with his father, mother and sister. He was a lifelong resident of Schenectady, NY, born in 1930. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Louis worked at Cappiello Foods prior to joining the US Postal Service as a letter carrier where he was employed for 27 years until his retirement. He loved his job and made many friends along the way. He was a life member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Growing up Louis was an altar server at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for many years and he was a member of the Suscipiat Canore Society. He served as an usher and worked bingo at the former Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Rotterdam. Louis’ favorite hobbies included tending to his huge vegetable garden, cooking and woodworking. He liked to share his abundance of vegetables with family and friends. He enjoyed vacationing in Cape Cod, MA. Louis is survived by his wife Mary Jane, daughters Amy (Ken) Kieft, Marcy Yarborough, son John (Krista) Comanzo, grandchildren Tyler and Brandon Kieft and Kara and Anthony Comanzo. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Dutch Hollow staff at Glendale Nursing Home and Community Hospice of Schenectady who provided such wonderful care. A celebration of Louis’ life will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11am at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam, NY 12306. Calling hours are from 10 to 11 am prior to the service. Burial will be at St. Cyril Cemetery immediately after the Memorial Service.
