Lorraine C (Gwozdz) Sellie

Rotterdam – Lorraine C. Sellie, age 85, passed away at home after a short illness on Thursday, April 12th, 2018. Lorraine was born on December 19, 1932 in Cohoes, NY to her parents Jozef and Anna Gwozdz. A graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, Lorraine worked for many years as a secretary at the General Electric Co., retiring in 1994. Lorraine enjoyed cooking, baking and participating in aerobics classes. She also enjoyed her lunches with her UPS girls and dinners with her roller skating group. Above all else, Lorraine loved spending time with her family. She was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Church. Lorraine married her husband, Paul Sellie Jr., on May 17th, 1952 and together they enjoyed 42 years of marriage until Paul’s passing in 1998. Lorraine leaves behind her son, Richard (Michele) Sellie and their children, Jennifer (Tom) Schweizer and Jason (Bobbie) Sellie, her son, Thomas (Helen) Sellie and their children, Jeri Metzger, Fred (Haley) Metzger and T.J. (Jacklyn) Sellie, and her daughter, Carole Wickham and her children, Brian (Allison) Wickham and Christopher Wickham as well as her great grandchildren, Anthony and Dominic Schweizer, Sophia Metzger, Emilia and Evelyn Sellie and Emma Wickham. She also leaves behind her siblings, Raymond Gwozdz, Regina Bohl and Bob (Adriane) Sellie, sisters-in-law, Clara Gwozdz and Gwen Sellie and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Paul, Lorraine was predeceased by her siblings, Lucy Szarowicz, Helen Scala and Frank and Paul Gwozdz and her great granddaughter, Mia Schwiezer. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. in Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday morning at 9:15am at the funeral home and will be followed at 10am by a funeral mass at St. Gabriel’s Church on Hamburg Street. Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Schenectady. Contributions on Lorraine’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
