NISKAYUNA –Lori Karen McCambley, of Niskayuna, New York, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday morning, May 13, 2023, surrounded by family. She was 62 years old.
Raised in Rotterdam, New York, by her late parents, Arlene and John Parisi, Lori attended Schalmont High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oneonta where she met her soulmate, John McCambley. She went on to complete her Master's degree in Reading from SUNY Albany.
Lori began her teaching career at St. Paul the Apostle School in Schenectady, New York, where she was a revered fixture in the Diocese of Albany Catholic Schools for 22 years. After three years at the SUNY Research Foundation, Lori went on to spend another 14 years teaching at Mont Pleasant Middle School in Schenectady, where she touched the lives of countless students and community members. She was equally beloved by her colleagues, who admired her positive spirit, compassionate nature, and quick sense of humor.
Outside of the classroom, Lori was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church. She enjoyed annual trips to Florida, travel with friends, and time spent with family. Lori also loved to grab a good cup of coffee downtown.
Lori was predeceased by her treasured parents, Arlene and John Parisi, her father-in-law, Jack McCambley, and her brother-in-law, Michael Pratt.
She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years Dr. John McCambley, adored daughters Kathryn McCambley Hamilton (Ryan), Jane Grant (Ryan), and Megan McCambley (Trevor Swingle), sister Jody Beebie (Steve), niece Lauren Robichaud (Kevin, Benjamin, and Lillian), and in-laws Marion McCambley, Thomas McCambley (Michele), Barbara Pratt, and Mark McCambley (Annie). She is also survived by Godchildren Sara Herbert (Cody), Ryan Pratt (Julia), and Jack McCambley, as well as several much-loved nieces and nephews, including Laura LeMura (Jamie), Sean Pratt (Kristin Balliet) and Carly McCambley. She leaves behind numerous cherished close friends and neighbors, especially her best friend for life, Patricia Delorey.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers. Special thanks to Dr. Cindy Chan for her tireless care of Lori and the entire extended Parisi family. They would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Memorial Sloan Kettering, especially Dr. Kenneth Yu, and The Community Hospice of Schenectady County.
Calling hours for Lori will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 4-8:00 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, New York. Lori’s funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Friday, May 19, from the chapel of DeMarco-Stone where prayer will be offered followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady, New York, being celebrated at 11:00 am with the Rev. Richard Carlino, pastor, officiating. Procession will follow to Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, where entombment will take place.
