Schenectady - Lionel "Jim" Liggett, 87, of Schenectady, passed away Tuesday November 12, 2013 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. Born in Schenectady, He was the son of the late Joseph and Alice Turnbull Liggett. Jim was an electrician with the Signal Bureau of the City of Schenectady retiring in 1987 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the IBEW #166. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris Dunster Liggett. Five children; Barbara (Scott) Becker, John (Linda) Liggett, Darlene (Paul) Massaro, Michele (Bruce) Becker and Kathleen (Nick) Rizzo. His nine grandchildren; James, Jason, John, Jacqueline, Jaime, Jodi, Janine, Jordan and Jennifer. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother, Jack Liggett and his sister, Betty Petitt. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held Friday from 4-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cobblestone Reformed Church Cemetery.
