Lillian M. Brooker (nee: Phelinger), 91, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2015 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Poughkeepsie on February 3, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Phelinger. Lillian formerly resided in Amsterdam and was a resident of Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation in Scotia at the time of her death. Lillian retired from the New York State Department of Transportation. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth L. Brooker. Lillian was known for her generosity, her love of simple pleasures such as reading and knitting, and for her unparalleled homemade pies. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Korunkiewich (Peter) of Rotterdam and Dale Nelson (Gary) of Troy; her grandchildren, Peter Korunkiewich (Debbie), Amy Nelson (Scott), Ingrid Nelson, and Carrie Donofrio and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Abbie, and Elise. A Celebration of Life service will begin Saturday, August 1st at 1 pm at Carman United Methodist Church, 2350 Hamburg St., Schenectady.Family will receive visitors prior to the service on Saturday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Contributions may be made in Lillian's name to Carman United Methodist Church or to Hope 7 Community Center, 596 Pawling Avenue, Troy, NY 12180.
