Schenectady-Leonard B. Langille, 96, patriarch of five generations entered into eternal life on July 1, 2022. He was born to Elmer F. and Sarah Louise (nee, Lee) Langille on September 22, 1925 in Plymouth, MA. He relocated several times in his youth following his father's employment. He graduated from Saugus High School in Saugus, MA in 1943. Len served in the U.S. Navy, attending catapult and arresting gear school and aviation machinist school prior to deploying to the Pacific theater. Following his service he went to school attending Champlain College and then Clarkson University studying mechanical engineering. It was there he met and married his wife Shirlee (nee, Woodard). The young couple's honeymoon was short lived as tensions on the Korean peninsula escalated and Len was invited back to the party. After his honorable discharge he returned to his bride to continue raising a family that will eventually yield 7 children. The family relocated to Schenectady in 1966 when Len took a new position, remaining here until his passing. Len was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing and hunting whenever possible. He was also a "jack of all trades" who also enjoyed making projects (tinkering) in his "shop." His kids figured he could fix anything but the crack of dawn or a broken heart and we really aren't sure on the last one, at least when he could find his tools that his boys hadn't absconded. Len was a man of Christian faith, he and Shirlee remained together for over sixty years until her passing in 2010. They instilled their family values in their children. He always tried to motivate us with his saying "do it like you mean it." Len is preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirlee, siblings Evon Holman, Claire Raymond, son Steven and a daughter-in-law, Melody. He is survived by sons David (Sharee) of Norwich, NY; Bernie of Bainbridge, NY; C. A. "Tony" (Carolyn), of Schenectady, NY; J. P. "Pat" (Norma) of Corpus Christi, TX; Eric and daughter M. J. "Peggy" both of Schenectady. His also survived by three more generations in several states who lovingly refer to him as Grandpa. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Memory Gardens on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11am joining his wife and son.
