Leona Gross, 95, of Bonaire, GA, formerly of Schenectady, NY, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 with her loving family by her side. Born in Nicholson, PA on July 3, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Jane (Logan) Musto. Married for 67 years, she was the wife of the late Walter J. Gross. She is survived by her children, Brian (Pamela) Gross, Laura (Robert) Iwan, and Karen (Theodore) Boiko and her brother Benjamin (Sally) Musto. She leaves behind her grandchildren Brian T. Gross, Samantha (Eric) Millington, Miles Boiko; and great grandchildren Lily and Jack in addition to many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Samuel, Alfred, and Thomas Musto; and her sisters Carmel Zarek, Mary Prezio, Helen Martin, Josephine Luckhurst, Katherine Vinciguerra, and Betty Mae (Rita) Garry. She worked for the former Albany Public Market before joining the NYS Department of State. After retirement, she was Head Babysitter for her grandkids. She enjoyed making craft items and was prolific at crocheting and knitting, teaching classes at the Annie Schaffer Senior Center. She lead an active life traveling, participating in senior bowling leagues in Schenectady and Altamont, election pollworker, ushering at Proctor’s Theater and over 25 years of service as part of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at Sunnyview Hospital. Leona loved her family. She will be sorely missed. Relatives and friends are invited to calling on Friday, January 31 from 9 AM to 10 AM atDeMarco-StoneFuneral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A funeral service at the funeral home will immediately follow. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Leona’s name may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
