Leatrice A. Willette

SCHENECTADY - Leatrice A. Willette, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. A life-long resident of Schenectady, she was born on August 20, 1934 to the late Otto and Evelyn Milliman Platt. After graduating from Nott Terrace High School, Leatrice worked in data entry first for NYS, and then for Fleet Bank. She was a parishioner of St. Lukes Church, in Schenectady. Lee had a deep love for animals.  Often championing their causes.  All the family dogs as well as the dogs in the neighborhood loved her and all the treats she always had. Anyone who knew Lee knew she was a lot of fun, took great pride in her appearance and always looked great. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Stephen Willette.

Lee is survived by her children: Lisa Willette-Stuart (Dave), Harold Willette Jr. (Tina), and Tara Willette. Also, Richard Caputo, her longtime partner of 50 years.   Her loving grandchildren: Elaine Willette (Jaime), Jessy Willette (Mike) and Genna VanBlarcom (Joe).  Her loving great grandchildren Alannah Lanzo, Jace Lanzo, Madison VanBlarcom and Parker VanBlarcom.  The family would like to express a special thank you to Lee’s granddaughter Elaine for all the loving care and assistance she provided for her grandma.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday September 27th from 6 to 8pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday September 28th at 11am at St. Luke’s Church, 1241 State St., Schenectady. She will then be privately cremated and interred at Memory Gardens Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Guiding Eyes for The Blind.
