Duanesburg – Leah Mary Lennon, 73, passed away on Thursday, August 24th, 2023 in the comfort of her home.
Born in Schenectady, Leah was the daughter of the late John P. Santore and Angeline Fallone Santore.
She graduated from Mohonasen High School in 1968. It was there she met the love of her life, Joseph R. Lennon. Together they would enjoy 52 years of marriage.
Leah began her professional career at the Daily Gazette. She then went on to work several retail jobs followed by becoming an information operator for New York Telephone. Lastly and most notably, Leah worked for the Town of Duanesburg, first as a secretary in the Building Inspector’s office and was soon after elected Town Clerk. For 27 years, the Honorable Leah Lennon served as Notary Public, collected taxes, managed vital records and issued wedding, dog and hunting and fishing licenses to the residents of the town.
In her spare time, Leah enjoyed cooking for her family and baking beautiful cakes for all sorts of happy occasions. She was the family party planner and an amazing hostess.
Leah loved animals and travelling. She took lots of wonderful trips to Sanibel Island, FL, Nags Head in the Outer Banks, Vermont and Niagara Falls among many other destinations.
She was also an assistant Sunday School teacher at Our Lady of Fatima for a number of years.
Leah and Joe built a beautiful life together that centered around their family and the home of Leah’s dreams that Joe built for her in 1979. She loved planting flowers in her yard and always enjoyed the wildlife that surrounded their home.
Leah is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph R. Lennon; her two sons, Daniel Lennon and Jason Lennon; beloved granddaughter, Callie Lennon; her brother, the late John A. Santore and her sister-in-law, Merrie-Ann Santore; her sister, Nancy Famularo (Dominic); her nieces and nephew, Faith Marie Famularo, Gregory Famularo and Marlo Mcgloin as well as several close cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A funeral service will begin on Thursday at 11am at the funeral home. Leah will be laid to rest at St. Cyril’s Cemetery on Duanesburg Road.
