Rotterdam-Lawrence R. Perkins, 84, of Harrison Ave, passed away at Ellis Hospital on April 8, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born in Albany NY on March 18, 1930 and he was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post 1895. His beloved wife Dolores (Ciasullo) Perkins predeceased him on May 6, 2013. Larry worked for Niagara Mohawk in Schenectady as a supervisor in the gas department for 36 years retiring in 1988. He was an avid Yankee fan and he greatly loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending all their activities. Larry was very active in Bellevue Pop Warner later to merge into Belmont Pop Warner. He loved to take his wife to the various festas in the area and dance and enjoyed by his two musician sons. Larry is survived by his sons Lawrence( Lynn Goliber) PerkinsJr. of Schenectady and Mark (Janet) Perkins of Rotterdam, and five grandchildrenValerie ( Joshua) Gioeli , Christopher ( Theresa) Perkins,Michael, Anthonyand Nicholas Perkins and two great grandchildrenTristan and Gaetano. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Perkins, sister in laws Jacqueline Perkins, Connie Hiller and brother in law Robert Ciasullo. Besides his parents John and Margaret Perkins and his wife Dolores, he was predeceased by two brothers John and Robert Perkins. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc 1605 Helderberg Ave Rotterdam Friday April 11, 2014 from 6 pm to 8 pm. Immediately following funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 8 pm. Entombmentwill be Saturday April 12, 2014 at 10 am at Most Holy Redeemer MausoleumNiskayuna .
