Lawrence J Jasenski Sr

Rotterdam - After a brief illness, Lawrence J. Jasenski Sr, 83, at the home of his beloved daughter Mary Ann and her husband Al, and while surrounded by his adoring wife, loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their spouses; passed into eternal rest on Monday, April 15, 2019. Son of the late William and Caroline Regula Jasenski, Larry was and forever will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband to the one and only love of his life, his wife and “woman” Kathryn Esposito Jasenski. A true and steadfast example of dedication to family to all who knew him, Larry was always extremely proud of “his boys” and their families and accomplishments, but he had a special place in his heart for his only daughter, in whose adoring eyes he could do no wrong. Born on Bridge St. in the City of Schenectady in 1935, his family subsequently moved to Augustine Ave in the Town of Rotterdam where in 1949, while attending St. Adalbert’s School, he would meet the woman he would marry, raise a family with, and spend the next 70 years of his life. Larry accepted a position working with his future father-in-law at Brunalli Construction, where he installed water and sewer lines in the Town of Rotterdam and throughout the Capital Region. Larry voluntarily enlisted in the United States Army in 1954, serving with distinction during the Korean War until 1956. Trained as a harbor craft operator, achieving the rank of SP4 and receiving recognition as an expert rifle and carbine marksman and sharpshooter, with medals for National Defense Service and Good Conduct, he was honorably discharged on January 31, 1962. Larry trained as a union mason with B.M. & P.I.U. of America International, working on numerous construction projects throughout the Capital Region and beyond, leaving the building trades in 1968 for a position with consistent pay and benefits to provide for his growing family, in the warehouse of the Grand Union Co. Distribution Center in Waterford, N.Y. He eventually accepted a position as a tractor trailer driver in the Transportation Department, a position from which he would retire in 1995. Besides his devotion to wife and family, Larry enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing and the great outdoors. He looked forward to bringing his guns to his granddaughters for their target practice sessions. He treasured the members of his woodworking and carving club and would look forward to their weekly get togethers and shows. He took great pleasure being on the open road and spent many years traveling in his recreational vehicle from Maine to Florida and beyond, creating memories that he would cherish a lifetime. Larry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathryn Esposito Jasenski; his sons Anthony “Tony” (Maria), Lawrence Jr “LJ” (Joelle), Edward “Ed” (Regina), and Robert Jasenski (Shelly); his daughter Mary Ann Rossi (Alfonso); grandchildren Cara Ackerley (Michael), Anthony Jasenski Jr “TJ”, Brittany Lanning (Spencer), Lawrence III “Trey” Jasenski (Marissa), Kylie Jasenski, Christina Tretts (Jeremy), Joseph Jasenski (Brittany), Austin “AJ”, Kyle, and Aiden Jasenski, and Egidio “Gino”, Julia, and Davia Rossi; Great Grandchildren Abigail and Colton Ackerley, Bella Lanning, and Penelope Rose Tretts; Brothers William “Butch” Jesenski Jr (Roberta), Charles Jasinski, Richard Jasinski (Gloria), Leon Jasinski, and sisters Irene Nardini, Sr. Alice Joan CR, Janice Kniese (Robert), and Ann Marie Kill (Patrick); his Special Aunts Emilie Credno and Patricia Schorr (Marvin), sister-in-law Carol Esposito, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry was predeceased by his parents William and Caroline Regula Jasenski, his mother and father-in-law Anthony “Tony” and Mary Ann Restifo Esposito, sister Dorothy Phelan, brother-in-law’s Frank Nardini, Richard Phelan, and Salvatore Esposito, and sister-in-law Susan Jasinski. The family would like to thank Dr. Arthur Vakiener, Dr. Howard Schlossberg, Dr. Thomas Schumacher, Dr. Martin Engelstein, Dr. Matthew DiCaprio, and Dr. Saaket Gupta for their excellent medical care; Dr. Roger Malebranche for his many years of dedicated care and friendship; the doctors and staff in the Ellis Hospital Emergency Department and O/P Surgery, the paramedics from Rotterdam EMS who made possible our many trips to the hospital, and the nurses and staff at Schenectady Hospice whose unmatched care and compassion guided us through the darkness to bring comfort to his final days. Calling hours are being held Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 4 to 7 pm at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin 9 am Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St Madeleine Sophie Church 3500 Carman Rd Guilderland. Burial with military honors will follow at Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery 611 Duanesburg Rd Rotterdam.
