SCHENECTADY- Laura E Underkoffler (Miller) of Schenectady, New York, entered eternal life at home surrounded by her children, on October 26, 2025
Laura was born August 2nd, 1927 in Williamstown PA, to the late Louis and Lida (Coles) Miller. She grew up and was educated in Williamstown. After graduating from Williamstown High School she became a clerk at Pennsylvania Power and Light.
She met the love of her life Edwin and they married on September 2nd 1950.
She worked briefly for General Electric in the secretary pool, she then left to join her husband in Germany while he was stationed there. Upon their return home she settled down and became a homemaker.
Laura is survived by her children, Susan Schaffer and Michael Underkoffler, and his wife Eileen. As well as her grandchildren Zackery Schaffer, Kody Schaffer, Elizabeth Underkoffler (Blake) Hammond and Jonathan Underkoffler, followed by her great grandchild Koda Schaffer. She is also survived by one brother-in-law Philip Underkoffler and his wife Carolyn. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and also some great-great nieces and nephews. She also is survived by Joan Olsen, her caretaker and very good friend.
Besides her parents, Laura was pre-deceased by her siblings, Lou, Lorraine, Lois, and Lane. As well as her brother-in-law David Underkoffler, sister-in-law and her husband Nanna and Robert Bettleyon and two nephews James Welsh and MarcJon Bettleyon.
There will be a “Celebration of Life” for Laura on February 1, 2026 at 2 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church 2850 Guilderland Ave, Schenectady NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Laura's name can be made to the “Animal Protective Foundation” 53 Maple Avenue Scotia, NY 12302
