Karen Kris Nadeau

d. October 20, 2024

Karen Kris Nadeau (Quackenbush) of Port Orange, Florida. Karen, also known as Gramzy, passed away unexpectedly at her home on October 20, 2024 at the age of 67. Born on November 5, 1956 in Troy, New York, she was the daughter of the late Earl Quackenbush Jr. and Ruth Virginia Quackenbush (Johansen). Karen’s beautiful life journey began as a graduate from Lansingburgh High School in the Class of 1974.  She spent her entire career working for the State of New York.  In 2015, after 30 years of State service, she decided to retire from the New York State Gaming Commission (Lottery). Karen loved to travel and explore new places.  Once retired, Karen began a new journey to the State of Florida where she would enjoy the everyday sunshine and wildlife in her backyard overlooking a beautiful lake.  Karen loved to take cruises around the world on various ships, but her favorite trips were when she would head back to New York to see her children and grandchildren.  Karen’s favorite color was purple and her flower of choice was a carnation.  Karen was a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Elks Club and a member of the Eagles where she enjoyed music, friends, food, and a cold beer.

At the center of Karen’s world was her family.  She was a devoted wife and shared over 35 years of marriage with her husband Bernard (Bernie).  She was a devoted mother to Kelly Nadeau, Michael (Darrian) Nadeau, Robert Nadeau, and Lisa Nadeau Andrews.  Karen’s joy multiplied with her grandchildren; Brayden, Grayson, Weston, Kingston, Kaitlin, Haliey, Chase, Luna, Addison, and Jaxon who lovingly knew her as Gramzy.  Also survived by her brother, Albert (Patricia) Quackenbush, and sister, Cheryl (Brian) Hayden, along with several nieces and nephews.  Karen was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Quackenbush Horton.

In memory of Karen, a memorial gathering to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Condolences can be posted at demarcostonefuneralhome.com.
