Josephine Agnes (Palumbo) Vegezzi

Schenectady & Oakland Park, FL - Josephine Agnes Vegezzi, 91, passed away on May 10, 2014 at her residence in Oakland Park, FL with her loving family by her side. Josephine was born August 21, 1922 in Schenectady, NY to Giuseppe and Sanina (Buonome) Palumbo. Josephine spent the majority of her life residing in the Schenectady area. She moved to Oakland Park, Fl in her later years to be closer to her cherished son, Mark. Close family members including the Palumbo clan and cousin, Sanina, shared the Florida sun with "Jo" as they also had Florida residences. Josephine enjoying cooking and planning for family visits. Josephine was well versed on current events and imparted her wisdom on friends, neighbors and relatives who came to visit. Josephine was a long time communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish in Schenectady. Josephine is survived by her son, Mark Louis Vegezzi and friend, Donald Paul Gaudet of Oakland Park; brother and sister in law, John Anthony Palumbo and Nancyetta Palumbo of Lexington, KY; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Albert Vegezzi and sisters, Antoinette Johnson and Pasqualena Demi.. Calling hours will be held from 9-11 am on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A Prayer service will begin at 11 am. Burial at St. Anthony's Cemetery will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Josephine's memory to Catholic Hospice 14875 NW 77th Ave, Suite 100, Miami Lakes, FL 33014.
