Josephine "Jo" Sindoni

December 4, 1942 — January 11, 2023

Rotterdam- Josephine “Jo” Sindoni, 80, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on January 11th 2023, after battling cancer. She held on for as long as she could, but then again, Jo was always the last one to leave the party. Born in Schenectady on December 4, 1942 she was the daughter of Joseph and Antoinette Servidone. Jo graduated from Schalmont High School, “Class of 1961”. She worked for DMV and SUNY Albany, before starting a family. When her boys were older, she worked at Sal’s Quality Market, a local family business that she and her husband owned for nearly 50 years. Everyone that knew and loved Jo admired her indomitable spirit. She had a passion for travel and explored many states and countries with her family and friends. Jo also enjoyed cooking and entertaining for friends and family. Jo was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, William Sindoni. She is survived by her two sons; Michael Sindoni and Tom Sindoni (and Paula Bene), her brother, Thom Servidone (Jeanne), a sister-in-law, Lorraine Ostapaw, a brother-in-law, Ed Sindoni, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, January 17th, 2023 from 5-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Josephine’s funeral will take place at the convenience of her family on Wednesday, Jan. 18th with final interment to be held in St. Cyril and Method Cemetery, Rotterdam, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Bill. In lieu of flowers, donations can be mailed in Jo’s memory to The Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
