Josephine Nicolina Schiano Richute

Josephine Nicolina Schiano Richute, 88, of Schenectady died at home on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Josephine moved to Schenectady as a young girl. She was employed as a produce worker for Price Chopper for 35 years and retired in 2000. Josephine was predeceased by her son Carl Richute as well as her parents, Vincenzo and Nicolina DeSimone Schiano. She is survived by two children; Rockwell Richute of Schenectady and Maureen (Donald) Hannah, also of Schenectady and Venice Fla.,one brother; Anthony (Delores) Schiano of Troy,NY., three grandchildren; Nicole (John) Shepard of Clayton, NC., Kristina Palmer of Astoria, NY and Jessica Ordway of Schenectady, her great grandchildren; Ava Marie Shepard and Cole Michael Shepard of Clayton, NC. as well as several special nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 12 noon to 2 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 2 pm. Burial will follow the services at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. Josephine's family would like to thank the Dr. Muhammad Tai and staff at NY Oncology and Hematology in Rexford and Schenectady Hospice for their care and support during her illness.
