ROTTERDAM- Josephine Joan Brown passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening December 7, 2024 at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY at the age of 91. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Josephine (Josie) was born to Joseph and Vincenza Micelli in New York City on November 30, 1933. She is predeceased by her husband Harold Brown and brother Ned Micelli. Josie is survived by her four daughters: Lorraine Brown, Kathleen Curtis (Michael Curtis), Vanessa Noxon and Patricia Wilson. Her love lives on through her eleven grandchildren: Ryan, Derek-Lawrence and Shane LeGere; Eric, Jacqueline and Kevin Curtis; Benjamin and Steven Noxon; Anthony Hill, Jenna and Theron Wilson; and ten great-grandchildren.
Josie has had many vocations spanning business and medical. She was an Accredited Orthotic Appliance Fitter, a Home Health Aide, a Clerical Typist and has completed curricula at the Royal Barber Beauty School and Spencer’s Business Institute. Josie was extremely talented and creative when it came to painting, sewing, decorating and making floral arrangements.
Josie and her husband Harry of 67 years built a beautiful life together, full of love and adventure. They enjoyed traveling to Italy with family and embracing her Italian heritage. Josie and Harry enjoyed spending their summers on Lake George at their ‘Acre of Paradise.’ They loved hosting dinners, sleepovers and holiday celebrations for the entire family. She welcomed everyone with open arms and was a mother to all.
Josie took great pride in her family and loved them unconditionally. She will forever be remembered for her unyielding love of God, incredible work ethic, her wit, charm and intellect. You could always find Josie around the kitchen, cooking up some delicious meal to serve to anyone that stopped by.
Josie has fought the good fight and has finished a race well run. Although she will surely be missed, she has earned the reward she so rightly deserves as she is embraced into the arms of her Heavenly Father.
Calling hours will be from 4 – 7 pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 5216 Western Turnpike, Guilderland, NY 12084. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, 10:30am at Saint Gabriel the Archangel Church 3040 Hamburg St. in Rotterdam. Burial will be at 1pm in the Gerald B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY following her Mass.
