Joseph R. Pugliano; 85, passed away peacefully at home, in his chair, Friday March 4th.Born and educated in Wellsville, Ohio; he was the son of Giovanni and Maria Rosa(Petrollo).He was one of eight. As a corporal for the US Army, he proudly served his country in the Korean War from 1951 till he was discharged in 1953.He spent his life working as a meat cutter in his own shop, The Village Butcher Shop in Altamont. He was predeceased by his oldest son Joseph, his parents, and six of his siblings. He is survived by his loving wife Celestina, of 62 years, his two children Michael(Sandra) Pugliano of Cohoes and Susan Baker of Rotterdam. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Serena(Nathan) Roginsky of Tennessee, Christina Baker of Rotterdam, Sarah Phillips of Rotterdam and Nicholas Toomey of Tennessee, his great grandson, Anthony Bush of Rotterdam. Also by his sister Angelina(Rudy) Frank of Florida and his sister-in-laws- Toni Volpicelli of Rotterdam and Helen Pugliano of Wellsville. He is survived by his three grand-dogs, Scotchy, Ziggy and Rogue. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins across the country. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots. He loved to watch golf and daytime television. The family would like to extend many thanks to Rotterdam Emergency Services (REMS) and the staff in the emergency department of Ellis Hospital for their help Friday evening. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening, from 5-7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, 10:15 from the funeral, followed at 11 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial will be at St's Cyril & Method Cemetery.
