Rotterdam- Joseph Anthony Piccirillo Sr., 95, of Rotterdam, New York, died on Monday, May 23rd, 2022 following a brief illness. Born on April 20th, 1927 in Schenectady, New York, Joseph was the son of the late Arcangelo and Angelina (DiCerbo) Piccirillo. Joe was a graduate from Mont Pleasant High School and a lifelong Schenectady resident. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Coast Guard. He was retired from the General Electric Corporation. He enjoyed traveling and spending the winter at his second home in Bradenton, Florida. He is survived by his longtime companion, Lilian Hitchcock, his sister Marion Rizzo, and his sister-in-law, Yvette (Carpenter) Foti. A devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, he is survived by his children; Nicole (William) Lavin, Bryne (Suzanne) Piccirillo, Douglas Piccirillo, Joseph (Kathleen) Piccirillo Jr., Bradley (Holly) Piccirillo, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and close friends. He is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Lucie (Carpenter) Piccirillo and his sister Concetta Mone. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 5pm-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Schenectady, NY 12306. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 10am at St. Gabriel The Archangel Church, 3040 Hamburg St. Schenectady, NY 12303.
