Joseph Paul Parks, 78, of Glenville, formerly of Schenectady, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Friday June 27, 2014. Born in Ballston Spa, NY, Joe was the son of the late Walter and Margaret Ivers Parks and was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School. Joe worked at WRGB TV, Friehoffer's, and retired from General Electric R&D in Niskayuna after 35 years of service. Joe cherished his time spent outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and spending time at his Adirondack camp with his family. He also loved flying model airplanes and showing off his "skills" as a pilot to friends and family. Papa will be forever loved and always remembered as the leader of our parade. In addition to his parents, Joe joins his loving wife of 43 years, Geraldine Skiff Parks in heaven. A proud family man, "Joe Parks" is survived by four daughters; Mary (Bill) Brehm, Kathy (Denny) Russell, Barbie (Robert) Hull and PaulaJo Parks. Joe, our "Papa" is also survived by his loving grandchildren Jessie and Sarah Brehm, Joey and Karli Russell, Tory and Aaron Hull, and Brandon Fuller.His passion for life and kind heart also lives on with his brothers Walter (Sabine) Parks, Jack (Lucy) Parks, Dick (Janice) Parks and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening, from 5-7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, 8:45 am from the funeral home, followed at 10 am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church, Rt. 50 in Glenville. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie.
