Rotterdam - Joseph W. Paeglow, 92, of Rotterdam, and most recently of Fort Myers, FL, passed away on October 15, 2022 with his children by his side. He was born the son of the late Winie and Elizabeth (Ryan) Paeglow and married to his lifelong love, Edna (Gilbert) for 64 years and was a loving father to his four children. An avid traveler, who visited all 50 states, all of Canada, and Russia, China, Japan and much of Europe and also enjoyed multiple cruises. He served in the Korean War as a combat photographer, which he parlayed into a lifelong career as a news photographer and bureau manager for United Press International, covering many national and international events, including the 1980 Winter Olympics and the Attica Prison Riot. Joe was the 3rd generation to operate the family boat livery at Rollins Pond, currently operated by his children today. He also resided at Sun-n-Fun in Fort Myers, FL where he served on the board for 14 years and was an integral part of the community. Joe loved life, his family, golf, bocce ball, cards, participating in the stock market and singing karaoke. He also made significant contributions to Sun-n-Fun and was commemorated with a pier named in his honor. Survivors include hischildren, Sherry (Paeglow) Renzi, Pamela (Paeglow) vonWiegen, Gray Paeglow and Wendy (Paeglow) Mongillo, as well as four grandchildren, AjaRae Gray, Kimberly Krisolofsky, Christopher Paeglow and Jade Koller and one great grandson, Alex Krisolofsky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna (Gilbert) Paeglow and his parents, Winie and Elizabeth (Ryan) Paeglow. The funeral service will commence at 1 pm on Saturday, Oct. 29th, 2022 from DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam with the Rev. John Califano, officiating. Procession will follow to Schenectady Memorial Park, Rotterdam where Joe will be laid to rest. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 am until 1 pm, prior to the service.
