Rotterdam – Joseph F. Moryl “Cruzin Joe”, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 3, 2017 after a brief illness. The angels called for him on his beloved wife’s birthday to reunite his soul with hers. Born in Stillwater, Joe was the son of John and Mary Borek Moryl. Joe honorably served his country in the Korean War. Saddened by the sudden loss of his wife before retiring from General Electric Research & Development Center as a locksmith, he decided to renew his passion for classic cars. “Snowflake”, an all white ’56 Chevy, was his first car – creating the beginning of many new lasting friendships. Over the last 26 years Joe became an ICON to the custom car community. He was a dear friend to many. Always in search of the perfect show car he had many beautiful classics over the years. Joe will be sadly missed. He is survived by his loving son, Richard Moryl, his loving daughter, Shirley Kelty (John) and his beloved grandson, Alec Kelty. Joe is also survived by several nieces, nephews and his cat, Abby. Calling hours will be held Friday from 6-8 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin 9:15 am Saturday at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Madeleine Sophie Church 3500 Carman Rd., Guilderland. Car enthusiasts are encouraged to drive their classics. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Schenectady.
