Rotterdam - On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, Joseph M. Micalizzi of Rotterdam passed away at Ellis Hospital, he was 83. Joe was born in Schenectady the son of the late Antonio and Maria Pastorino Micalizzi. He graduated from Draper High School and served honorably in the U.S. Navy. Joe was employed as a Machine Repairman with General Electric both at the main plant in Schenectady and later at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna. He retired after 35 years of service in 2001. Joe was an animal lover, and had a special place in his heart for his cats, Kimi and Emma. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races on Sunday afternoons. In addition to his parents, Joe was also predeceased by his step mother, Jeanette Micalizzi, his brother Fred Micalizzi and sister Santina Micalizzi. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Linda Baltzer Micalizzi, three brothers, John Micalizzi of Schenectady, Victor (Catherine) Micalizzi of Schenectady and Dominick (Donna) Micalizzi of Florida and his nieces and nephews, Gary Micalizzi, Kevin Micalizzi, Mark Micalizzi, Carla Gullotto and Kathy Volpicelli. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Wednesday, 12:30 pm at Open Arms Church, 2714 Curry Rd. Burial will follow at Memory’s Garden Cemetery.
