Rotterdam- The family of Joseph J. Mazzone , 91, announces with deep sadness hispassing on Monday, March 30, 2015. Joe was born in Schenectady, NY on April 24,1923, the son of the late John J. and Carmella (Costaldi) Mazzone. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and later obtained his Accountingdegree from the Bentley School of Accounting. Joe served his country during WWII by enlisting in the Army and serving in the Field Artillery in Patton's 3rd Army. In 1945 Joe met the love of his life, Mary Ciarmiello.They married in June of 1947. Joe was a successful entrepreneur, utilizing his degree to open his own business, J.J. Mazzone Accounting.Joe thoroughly enjoyed his job and continued working until April of 2013, when he retired. Since 1948 he was a very active communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and over the years Joe was also extremely active in many local organizations. Joe was the beloved husband of his devoted and loving late wife, Mary J. Mazzone who passed away in 2002. He was cherished by his children: John (Barbara) Mazzone , Joseph J. (Maureen) Mazzone Jr., Maria Mazzone, James (Joanna) Mazzone and Carmel (Pasquale) Mastroianni; Loving Poppy of Joseph (Kari) Altieri, Michael (Jana) Altieri, Tiffany (Nick) Giardono, Joseph J. (Courtney) Mazzone III, Dana Mazzone,Courtney Mazzone, Alyson Mazzone, P.J. Mastroianni, Joey Mastroianni, Karen (William) Smith, Jeffrey (Rona) Jordan; devoted and loving great grandfather of 14 great grandchildren; beloved brother of Beatrice Rossi, Louis (Gloria) Mazzone , John (Pat) Mazzone. Joe is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a wonderful and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be tremendously missed. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 31 from 4 to 8 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin 9 am at the funeral home, followed at 10am by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Schenectady. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Schenectady.
