Joseph Salvatore Marmo

Schenectady – Joseph Salvatore Marmo, 83, passed away on Saturday, January 7th, 2017 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Amsterdam, NY, Joseph was the son of the late Salvatore and Angeline Marmo. After graduation from Mont Pleasant High School, Joe attended Albany Business School. For many years Joe owned WoodMar Builders. Joe was a wonderful husband, father, stepfather and grandfather. Most of all he had a wonderful way with people and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed sharing a meal with his family and friends. In years past, Joe enjoyed skiing, walking, exercising, listening to music and watching the NY Yankees. Joe worked at Lowe’s until the young age of 80 and only stopped because of illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane Marmo; his daughter, Lisa (Tim) Lerette of Stuart, FL; his son, J. Christpher (Trisha) Marmo of Santa Barbara, CA; his stepson, David Demartini of Schenecatdy; stepdaughter, Denise (Scott) Griffin of Norwood, MA; grandchildren, Alexis and Anthony Lerette; Nella Diaz; Taylor, Alec, Lauren, Carly and Gregory Marmo; Derik Griffin and great grandchildren, Grayson and Brinleigh Lerette. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be Thursday, January 12th from 5-7pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave. in Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin at 8:15am on Friday at the funeral home, followed at 9am at the Church of St. Clare, 1947 Central Ave., Albany where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Schenectady. Arrangements are by R.J. DeLuccia Funeral Service.
