Rotterdam – Joseph Lima, 94, went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, one of eleven children of Pasquale and Raphael (Benvenuti) Lima.
Joe came to the United States at the age of 17 and served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953.
Joe worked as a Sales Manager for Coyne Textiles, retiring after 30 years of service.
He was a 63-year member of Calvary Tabernacle Church where he impacted many lives. During those years, he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and youth leader.
Joe will be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a dedicated family man.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 66 years, Mary (Saglimbeni) Lima and his children, MaryAnn (Daniel) Batty and Joseph J. Lima (Lou-Ann). Joe was adored by his six grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren with one on the way. He also leaves behind his siblings, Peter Lima, Annie Pardine, Esther Lima, Elizabeth Cherulnik and Laura Lima as well as many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Joe was predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-7pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdam. A service will begin at 10am on Thursday at Liberty Church (formerly Calvary Tabernacle), 1840 Albany Street, Schenectady. Joe will be laid to rest with military honors at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
