Joseph David “Joe” Howe, 49, of Rotterdam, New York, passed away suddenly of natural causes on September 14, 2025. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, Joe lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and service to others.
A graduate of Buckingham, Browne and Nichols High School in Cambridge, MA, Joe went on to earn his degree from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. His professional journey led him into the home insurance industry where he specialized in disaster recovery claims. Most recently, he served as a Market Development Specialist for Servpro Industries. In every role he held, Joe brought integrity and a deep commitment to helping others during some of their most difficult times.
Joe’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Heather L. Howe and their cherished daughter Jocelyn “Josie” Howe. He was the devoted son of David V. Howe and Alice E. Howe and the treasured son-in-law of James “Jim” Law and Karen H. Law.
Joe’s life was filled with meaningful pursuits that reflected his generous spirit and love for community. He proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout and continued his commitment to service through Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity. For over two decades, he volunteered as a judge for Odyssey of the Mind, encouraging creativity and teamwork among young minds.
When Joseph was younger, Joe enthusiastically embraced his roles as a “dance prop dad” and assistant coach for her soccer and softball teams—always present with encouragement and support. Whether on the sidelines or behind the scenes, he gave his time wholeheartedly.
Outside of work and volunteering, Joe enjoyed golfing, reading, and traveling. Yet above all else, he prioritized spending time with his family—his true source of happiness.
Those who knew Joe remember him for his warm smile and genuine kindness. He had an extraordinary ability to make people feel comfortable with his humor and accepting nature. Always willing to lend a hand or share a laugh, Joe left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
An open house celebrating Joe’s life will be held.
May Joseph’s memory continue to bring comfort to those who loved him and inspiration to all who carry forward his legacy of kindness and service.
