Rotterdam- Joseph Geloso, 78, at rest Monday May 18, 2015 after a long illness. Joe was born in Caserta, Italy and was the son of the late Pasquale and Antonia Geloso. He came to the United States in 1955. Joe spent 43 years as the proud owner of Joe's Pizza Place and Restaurant on Hamburg St., Rotterdam, a multi generational family run, local favorite where Joe was happy to have his customers watch their pizza being made by "imported hands." Joe was the beloved husband of 47 years to Mary Ann DeMarco Geloso; beloved father of Lorrie (David) Girard, Darlene Geloso, Michele Geloso; all of Rotterdam,Tawney (Douglas)Gess of Wisconsin, Patricia (Paul) Grassia of Rotterdam, Joann Weber of Illinois, Amy (Terry) Cox of Pennsylvania and the late Robert J. Geloso.; beloved brother of Michele (Lucia) Geloso of Fonda and the late Nicola Geloso; beloved brother-in-law of Maria Geloso of Caserta; Joe's pride and joy were his beautiful grandchildren, David Girard Jr, Nicole Rapp, Bridget Craver, Kyle Girard, April and Salvatore Purello, Michaela andJoseph Pisano Jr., Nicholas and Christianna Gess, Elvira, Joseph and Paul Grassia Jr., Isabella Weber, Devan and Derek Cox. Joe is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held Thursday May 21 from 4:30 to 7 pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. (PLEASE NOTE: Portions of Curry Road will be closed from approximately 6pm until 8pm for the Rotterdam Memorial Day Parade). Funeral services will begin Friday 10am at the funeral home followed at 11am by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle 2733 Albany St. at Kings Rd. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Due to severe allergies within Joe's family it is strongly requested that no flowers be sent.
