Joseph Earl Fountain

Scotia - Joseph E. Fountain, 73, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 7th, 2020. Born in Schenectady to his parents, the late O’Neill and Elaine Malo Fountain, Joe was a lifelong area resident. He proudly served his country in the US Navy, completing 3 tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Joe worked at General Electric in Schenectady and later went on to work for VonRoll USA, retiring in 2007. Joe was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. He enjoyed Harley Davidson and Triumph motorcycles along with off road ATVs and was a member of Old Men Gone Wild. He often participated in motorcycle toy runs and could be found on Sunday mornings at the Saw Mill Tavern serving breakfast to the homeless. Joe leaves behind his 4 sons, Kevin Fountain (Rebecca), Joseph Earl Fountain, Shawn Henry Fountain and Harley Joseph Fountain and his grandchildren, Hannah Rose, Kevin Hunter, Deegan Henry and Jake Owen. He also leaves behind his siblings, Charlene Peek and O’Neill Fountain (Kathleen) as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his siblings, Patricia Wiley and Ernest Fountain. Calling hours will take place on Wednesday from 3-5pm at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue in Rotterdam. Masks and social distancing will be required. Family and friends wishing to attend Joe’s burial with military honors may gather at the entrance of Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Thursday at 11:15am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vietnam Veterans Group of your choice.
