John Trowbridge, 71, passed away suddenly on October 31, 2013. Born in Schenectady on August 5, 1942, he was the son of the late WIlbur and Rose Trowbridge. John graduated from Schalmont High School and went on to attend Northwestern University.He then completed a masters degree in Psychology from Syracuse University. He served in the US army in Vietnam from 1968-1970 as a Green Beret. He was highly decorated for his duties in Vietnam. Upon returning from Vietnam, he was co-owner of Campus Hill Apartments until the mid 1980's. John relocated with his family to Schenectady in 1985 to live in the family homestead. He was active in Real Estate for many years and was an avid horse racing fan having attended numerous triple crown races. He also delighted in collecting sports memorabilia. John is survived by his daughters Rose Trowbridge of Pittsburgh, PA, Riva Trowbridge of Pompano Beach, Florida, a son, John Everett Trowbridge Jr, of Brooklyn, NY, a brother Richard (Linda) Trowbridge of Queensbury, NY, his former wife Deborah Trowbridge of Pompano Beach, and nieces Michelle (John) Voorhees of South Glens Falls, Jennifer (Brian) Kika of Greenfield Center, and Deborah (Jody) Carden of Hagaman.There are also several nieces and nephews in his extended family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the DeMarco- Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Heldelberg Ave, Schenectady NY. Calling hours will be from 10:30-12 noon withfuneral services beginning at 12:00. Burial will be at the Saints Cyril and Method Cemetery on Route 7, Duanesburg Road immediately following the services. The Family wishes to thank the staff of the Catholic Charities Meals on Wheels program for their years of dedicated service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities, American Diabetic Association, or the Disabled American Veterans.
