John A Polito

John A. Polito, age 90 of Rotterdam NY, died on May 2, 2019 surrounded by his loving family, his family was his world. John was a great family man and a loving father. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Eleanor (Roberts) Polito who he met while serving in the U.S. Army at the Rotterdam Army Depot. John later worked for Mohawk Chevrolet and Hershey’s Ice Cream Corp. He was a former member of the Rotterdam ELKS and the Sons of Italy. John was predeceased by brothers Fred Castiglione, Joseph Pulito and Robert Castiglione, his sister Irene Mannerino and infant son John A. Polito Jr. John is survived by sisters Mary Jones of Oklahoma City and Jean Whisker of Niagara Falls. John is also survived by his loving daughters Susan Towns and Kathleen (William) McCullough of Rotterdam. John was the proud grandfather to Ray Fiore, Robin Teater, Brian (Rachel) Coons, Jennifer (John) Askew and Colleen (Jeff) McCrief. In addition, John leaves behind 12 great grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Services are private at the request of the family. Burial will be at Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery on Duanesburg Rd. In lieu of Flowers the family request that donations can be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
