John J Polimeni

Schenectady- John Joseph Polimeni, 81, of Guilderland Ave passed away peacefully at home on June 21, 2013. He was born in Schenectady on February 19, 1932 a son of the late Joseph and Margaret Crupe Polimeni.He attended Schenectady City Schools and was a graduate from Vocational High. John served in the Air National Guard for 35 ½ years and the United States Air Force. He received an associates degree in Business Administration from SCCC in 1982. John married Catherine Marie (Roberts) Polimeni on June 20, 1953. John worked at General Electric from 1951 until 1958 and then worked at the Army Depot Until 1963, at Leach Auto Parts from 1963 to 1973 and then returned to General Electric until his retirement in 1994. He was member of GE Quarter Century Club He took several GE Courses during his work years and received several awards. John was member of the St. George Lodge #6 F&AM, St. George's Chapter #157 RAM, St. George's Council #74 and is a Past Master and Past District Deputy Grand Master for Council #74 and a member of St George's Commanding#37 . He also was member of the Bellevue Neighborhood Watch.He served on the Board of Directors and also as President of Bellevue Little League. Additionally, he served on the Belmont Babe Ruth Board of Directors. He was member of the PTO Schenectady City Schools. John was a co-founder and member of the Bellevue Preservation Association. He was member of First Presbyterian Church since 1958 where he served as a Deacon and was Head Usher. John received a special award from the Air National Guard, the Presidential Unit Citation Guard for the 105th Infantry. He is survived by his wife Catherine, his children Joanne Polimeni, Glen A. Polimeni, Elizabeth J. Polimeni and John M. Polimeni. He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren Ethan Polimeni, Adrienne Polimeni, and Gabriel Polimeni, 3 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Ruth Fatato and Maragret Fatato. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc 1605 Helderberg Ave Rotterdam on Tuesday June 25, 2013 from 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday June 26
